A couple weeks ago, I decided to do an experiment. Without having any information besides a few things I was working on, I tweeted the following:
I didn’t know where it would go but I trusted the Chia community to come through. Interesting things get announced and shipped almost daily, but can it last a full week?
Answer: Yes, and then some!
- Day 1: Chia getting Ledger hardware wallet support
- Day 2: Tokenization
- Day 3: Secured Offers
- Day 4: Berkeley Compute hires Michael Taylor
- Day 5: Chia Network gets IPO ready
- Day 6: Building on Chia is getting way easier
- Day 7: Chia Toronto Meetup 2025!

Day 1: Chia getting Ledger hardware wallet support
We started with a banger. Yakuhito successfully signed a Chia transaction with a Ledger, Trezor, and Tangem hardware wallets on testnet with the new keccak256 operator that is proposed in CHIP-0036.
This means once the operator is soft forked into mainnet (in the next ~3 months), it will be possible for hardware wallets to support Chia (XCH, CATs, and NFTs).

Day 2: Tokenization
A new blog post from Chia Network was made public, “Tokenization: The path toward greater market liquidity“. There has been a number of assets tokenized on Chia, some part of POCs, others released, and some yet to come. But it’s great to see the growth in the sector of Real World Asset (RWA) tokenization.
Day 3: Secured Offers
Offer Files are powerful ways to trustlessly trade assets peer-to-peer.
As part of Solomon’s Lot’s development , they created a new type of Offer called “Secured Offers”, where the seller can put their side of the Offer in a timelock, essentially guaranteeing to the buyer(s) that the Offer can’t be cancelled. They are looking to use this to payout DAC holders.
Read about how Solomon’s Lot is pioneering fractional real estate ownership.
Day 4: Berkeley Compute hires Michael Taylor
Two notable start ups leveraging the Chia blockchain are Berkeley Compute and DIG.net. The former hiring one of the greatest developers in Chia while indirectly providing funding for the latter is excellent news for both projects!
Day 5: Chia Network gets IPO ready
As predicted in my Top 10 Chia Predictions for 2024, I didn’t expect an IPO this year but did expect an update/announcement. It seems we’re inching closer to such an announcement.
Day 6: Building on Chia is getting way easier
Michael Taylor shared a rough draft for DIP-0002 by Yakuhito. There were redacted sections referencing some technology that hasn’t been released yet. In my curiousity I reached out to Yakuhito to learn more and although I can’t share more details, I can say it will indeed be a game changer for tech, but the full solution is a game changer for future development on Chia.
Day 7: Chia Toronto Meetup 2025!
There was a small but fun Toronto meet up in 2023. We’re looking to bring it back next year but bigger and better as part of CanadaCryptoWeek.com. We have already confirmed attendance from Gene Hoffman (CEO) and Thomas Chow (CLO) from Chia Network Inc, along with a number of notable community members. There will be more announcements soon, follow me on X to stay up to date!
Day 8: Massive Spacescan Updates
Spacescan has always been a staple of the Chia ecosystem, as the only block explorer that supports both CATs and NFTs. The updates they announced this day were massive!
Day 9: Meme coins make big moves
There’s a big influx of interest in meme coins recently and Chia meme coins are no exception. Over a dozen tokens have more than doubled in value in the last week.
Day 10: Chia continues its growth in carbon markets
CADTrust is one of the most impressive use cases of the Chia blockchain, and there’s a lot of momentum for the continued growth of carbon markets and credits. In particular, we see that there are a number of governments and companies on deck to onboard to Chia.
Day 11: Better wallets and signers
Soon the recommendation for how to onboard onto Chia will be a combination of Sage Wallet, Cloud Wallet, and a smartphone.
Day 12: XCH.network Coming Soon
The last one is a bit of a teaser for something I’m working on that fills a big gap in the ecosystem. More to come on that so stay tuned!
Conclusion
There’s lots of ongoing development happening across the Chia ecosystem as illustrated by these past 12 days. And notably, the vast majority of these updates came from the community, demonstrating the strength of developers outside of CNI.
