Last week, we announced the launch of the XCH Foundation. The foundation exists to represent the interests of the Chia blockchain community, and our goal is to support efforts in onboarding developers into the Chia ecosystem, evangelizing and educating the public about Chia, and building infrastructure that benefits the broader ecosystem as a public good.
We are incredibly grateful for the work and efforts of Chia Network, Inc. along with all the developers and contributors that brought Chia to where it is today, and we look forward to forming and maintaining meaningful relationships with all ecosystem stakeholders.
The foundation has been set up as a legal entity in the United States of America. We plan to submit an application for 501(c)(3) non-profit status in 2025. The board of directors currently has 5 members:
- Grig from SumSet Tech, the firm behind NFTr, and a founding member/chair of the Metaverse Standards Forum, and member of OMA3
- Tim, the founder of the MonkeyZoo project
- Scott, an early engineer at SpaceX who is now investing as a VC in space and deep-tech companies
- Yakuhito, a Chialisp developer and the creator of TibetSwap and warp.green
- Brandon, the Rust mastermind behind the Sage wallet and the Rue programming language
The foundation currently has three working groups: community interaction, documentation, and development. We have reached out to some of the ecosystem players before the launch and asked them to serve as advisors to the foundation. If you’d be interested to become an advisor, contribute as part of a working group, start a new one or aid in the foundation’s efforts (e.g., moderation), please reach out.
One of the first official projects of the foundation is to oversee the moderation of the Chia Forum. We recognize the forum’s importance as a valuable place for discussion, and look forward to helping create and maintain a medium where the ecosystem can have meaningful conversations.
Lastly, we’re extremely excited to help shape Chia’s future. We’re incredibly thankful for all the help that allowed us to get to where we are today, and we look forward to proving our commitment to the foundation’s core purpose through our actions.
Onwards and upwards!
